Teaching Exams . Jharkhand TET

If you are dreaming of becoming a government school teacher in Jharkhand, the first and most important step is to understand the JTET eligibility criteria. The Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test, commonly known as JTET, is a state-level examination conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC), Ranchi. The exam determines candidates’ eligibility for teaching positions in primary schools (Classes 1 to 5) and upper primary schools (Classes 6 to 8) across the state. Before you even think about filling out the application form, you must make sure you fully meet the JTET eligibility criteria, because failing to do so can lead to rejection of your candidature at any stage of the process.

In this blog, we will walk you through every detail of the JTET eligibility criteria, covering the age limit, educational qualifications for Papers 1 and 2, nationality requirements, attempts, and more.

What is JTET?

JTET is a state-level eligibility exam conducted by the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) under the Government of Jharkhand. It is held to determine candidates’ eligibility for teaching positions in primary (Classes 1–5) and upper primary (Classes 6–8) schools across the state. The exam is conducted in offline mode through a pen-and-paper test. Clearing the JTET does not automatically give you a teaching job — it only certifies that you are eligible to apply for one. So understanding the JTET eligibility criteria is the very foundation of your journey.

Additionally, it is now compulsory for general category candidates to have passed Class 10th/12th from a recognized institution of Jharkhand State to be eligible for the JTET exam. Along with that, they should have knowledge of the culture, language, and environment of Jharkhand. Reserved categories are exempted from this rule.
