1. Educational Qualification for SSC GD

To apply for the SSC GD exam, candidates must meet the following education requirements:

  • Minimum Qualification: Class 10 (Matriculation) pass
  • The certificate must be from a recognised board.
  • Candidates who are currently in Class 10 and awaiting results are not eligible.

The qualification should be completed by the last application date.

2. Age Limit for SSC GD

The age criteria are very important for SSC GD aspirants. Here is the official age requirement:

General Age Limit

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age: 23 years

Age Relaxation (Category-wise)

Candidates from reserved categories get relaxation as per government rules:

  • SC/ST: +5 years
  • OBC: +3 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: +3 years (after deduction of military service)
  • Children & Dependents of Victims of Communal Riots of 2002 & 1984 Riots:
    • UR: +5 years
    • OBC: +8 years
    • SC/ST: +10 years

3. Physical Eligibility Criteria for SSC GD

Physical Fitness is a crucial part of the SSC GD selection process. Candidates must meet the required height, chest, and running standards.

a. Height Requirements

  • Male (General/SC/OBC): 170 cm
  • Female (General/SC/OBC): 157 cm

Relaxation:

  • ST candidates: Male – 162.5 cm, Female – 150 cm
  • Additional relaxation for candidates from hilly regions, ST tribes, North-East, and Gorkhas as per rules.

b. Chest Measurements (For Males Only)

  • Normal: 80 cm
  • Expanded: 85 cm (minimum 5 cm expansion)

Relaxation:

  • ST candidates: 76–81 cm
  • Other relaxation for hilly regions as notified.

c. Weight Requirements

Weight should be proportionate to height and age as per medical guidelines.

4. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

Candidates who meet the physical standards must appear for PET:

Running Test

  • Male: 5 km run in 24 minutes
  • Female: 1.6 km run in 8.5 minutes

(Some forces may conduct a slightly modified PET depending on recruitment conditions.)

5. Medical Standards for SSC GD

Selected candidates must be medically fit:

  • No knock-knee, flat foot, varicose veins
  • Good vision (with/without glasses):
    • Better Eye: 6/6
    • Worse Eye: 6/9
  • No major physical disabilities
