Baba Saheb Ambedkar Education University (BSAEU), formerly known as the West Bengal University of Teachers’ Training, Education Planning and Administration, has published two important notices for the BSAEU affiliation renewal 2026-27. One lists the colleges eligible for renewal of affiliation, and the other lists the colleges found ineligible. If you are planning to take a B.Ed. seat in West Bengal for the 2026-2028 session, these lists matter more than almost any other document this season.
In this post, we explain what the notices say, what the numbers show, and what students should do before choosing a college.
Every teacher training college in West Bengal that offers a B.Ed. course under BSAEU must hold a valid affiliation. This affiliation is not permanent. The university reviews colleges periodically and decides whether each one still meets the required standards. This process is called affiliation renewal.
A college that passes the review is declared eligible and may admit students in the coming session. A college that does not meet the expected criteria is declared non-eligible, and it cannot admit students until it fixes its deficiencies.

Here is a quick summary of what the two BSAEU documents contain:

The split is closer than many people expect. About 54 percent of the colleges cleared the renewal process, while about 46 percent did not. In other words, nearly one in every two colleges in the combined lists was found ineligible for the 2026-2028 session.
This is a strong signal for students and parents. A college’s name or its past reputation is no longer enough. The affiliation status for the current session decides whether your admission will be valid.
Both lists cover many districts, including Alipurduar, Bankura, Birbhum, Dakshin Dinajpur, Darjeeling, Purba Medinipur, Purulia, South 24 Parganas and Uttar Dinajpur. Some institutions in the lists are D.El.Ed. or primary teacher training institutes, so check the exact college name and code when you search.
The official note on the non-eligible list is clear. The colleges named there could not meet the expected criteria and were found ineligible for renewal of affiliation. Because of this, they are not allowed to admit students in the B.Ed. course for the 2026-2028 session.
The university has also told these colleges to overcome their deficiencies immediately. If they do, they may become eligible for the next session, 2027-2029. So non-eligibility is not necessarily permanent, but it does apply fully to this year’s admissions.
If you are applying for B.Ed. admission in 2026, keep these points in mind:
For colleges on the non-eligible list, the next step is to review the gaps that led to the decision and fix them without delay. These usually relate to infrastructure, faculty and other criteria set by the university. Since the university has asked them to improve immediately, colleges that act early will have a better chance of becoming eligible for the 2027-2029 session.
For colleges on the eligible list, renewal is a reminder that standards must be maintained every year, not only at the time of inspection.
Both lists are attached to this post as PDFs. Here is a simple way to use them:
Teacher training colleges shape the quality of school education. When a university enforces affiliation standards, it protects students from weak institutions and pushes colleges to improve. The large number of non-eligible colleges this year shows that the university is applying the criteria seriously. For students, the result is simple: choose carefully, verify officially and decide only after checking the status of the college.
The BSAEU affiliation renewal 2026-27 lists make one thing clear: affiliation status decides where you can safely take admission. Download both PDFs, check your college carefully, and share this post with other B.Ed. aspirants who may need it.
