UGC NET June 2026 Notification Out: Dates, Fees, Eligibility & How to Apply
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially opened the online registration portal for the UGC NET June 2026 exam. This exam determines eligibility for the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment as an Assistant Professor, and admission to PhD programmes at Indian universities and colleges. What is UGC-NET?
UGC-NET (National Eligibility Test) is conducted by NTA on behalf of the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is the gateway for Indian nationals to qualify for three key academic pathways:
- Award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and appointment as Assistant Professor
- Appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D.
- Ph.D. admission only
This cycle covers 85 subjects, conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
UGC NET New Notification June 2026
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the official UGC NET June 2026 notification on 29 April 2026. This notification contains all the important details regarding the upcoming examination, including eligibility criteria, subject list, application process, fee structure, exam schedule, and other essential instructions for candidates.
Whether you are appearing for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor appointment, or Ph.D. admission, this notification is the most important document you must read before filling the application form. It covers every rule and guideline set by UGC and NTA that every candidate must strictly follow.
The notification also includes the complete Information Bulletin, which candidates are required to go through carefully before submitting their application. Any candidate who does not follow the instructions mentioned in the bulletin may be summarily disqualified.

How to apply — step by step
Correction window — don’t miss it
Made a mistake in your application? NTA provides a correction window from 22 May to 24 May 2026 (up to 11:50 PM). This is your only chance to fix errors, so use it wisely. After this window closes, no further changes will be accepted under any circumstances.
Important instructions for all candidates
Read the complete Information Bulletin available on the NTA website before filling out the form. Candidates not complying with instructions will be summarily disqualified.
- Only online applications are accepted — no offline or postal forms.
- Each candidate can submit only one application form.
- The exam centre, date, and shift will be as indicated on the Admit Card.
- Admit cards will be available to download by 15 June 2026.
- The exam is conducted in CBT (Computer-Based Test) mode.
