The West Bengal Primary Teachers’ Eligibility Test (WB Primary TET) is conducted by the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE). It is a mandatory qualifying exam for anyone who wishes to become a primary school teacher (Class I to V) in West Bengal government schools in 2026.
The exam consists of 150 questions for 150 marks to be completed in 90 minutes. There is no negative marking, which is a huge advantage for your Primary TET preparation. If you want expert guidance alongside self-study, joining a WB Primary TET Online Batch can give you structured classes, live doubt sessions, and regular mock tests — all from the comfort of your home.
The five subjects are:
Sixty days gives you exactly the right amount of time to cover the entire syllabus without rushing, revise thoroughly, and practise enough mock tests to feel confident on exam day. Many candidates who fail do so not because they lack knowledge, but because they lack a structured Primary TET preparation routine. This plan fixes that. We have divided the 60 days into five clear phases. Follow them for the best results.
The first two weeks of your Primary TET preparation should be spent building a strong foundation across the core subjects.
Day 1–6 — Child Development & Pedagogy Start with CDP because it is scoring, appears in all five sections indirectly (pedagogy portion), and sets a strong conceptual base. Cover Piaget’s stages of cognitive development, Vygotsky’s Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), Kohlberg’s moral development theory, and the basics of inclusive education. Solve 30 MCQs daily from Day 4 onwards.
Day 7–9 — Mathematics Start with Number System, Fractions, Decimals, LCM and HCF. These are high-frequency topics in the WB Primary TET 2026 exam. Solve at least 20 problems every day with a focus on accuracy, not speed at this stage.
Day 10–12 — Language I (Bengali or your chosen language) Cover grammar basics, parts of speech, and comprehension skills. Read one passage every day and answer all comprehension questions on your own before checking answers.
Day 13–15 — Language II (English) Focus on tenses, articles, prepositions, and basic vocabulary. Make a word list of 10 new words every day. Do 20 MCQs daily.

This is the most intensive phase of your Primary TET preparation. You will go deeper into all five subjects.
Day 16–18 — EVS Cover Family & Community, Food & Shelter, Water, Plants and Animals. Use NCERT Class 3, 4, and 5 EVS books as your primary reference — they align perfectly with the WB Primary TET 2026 syllabus.
Day 19–21 — Mathematics Move to Geometry, Measurement, Shapes, and Data Handling. These are topics where many candidates lose marks. Practice 30 problems daily with timed sessions.
Day 22–24 — Child Development & Pedagogy (Advanced) Cover Inclusive Education in depth, Special Needs children, Gender and Education, and assessment methods like Formative and Summative Assessment. Focus on case-study-type MCQs which are common in the 2026 paper.
Day 25–27 — Language I (Deeper) Go into Literature, advanced comprehension, and Language Pedagogy — the teaching methods portion. Solve previous year TET questions specifically from Language I.
Day 28–30 — Language II (English) Practice unseen comprehension passages every single day. Cover error correction, sentence rearrangement, and language pedagogy including language acquisition theories.
Day 31–33 — EVS (Social Science Portion) Cover Travel and Transport, Maps, Historical and Geographical concepts included in the EVS section of WB Primary TET 2026. Many candidates underestimate this portion.
Day 34–35 — Weak Area Revision By now your daily MCQ scores will reveal your weak areas. Use these two days exclusively to revisit those topics. This is a critical step in effective Primary TET preparation.
This is the phase most candidates skip — and that is exactly why they lose marks. Pedagogy (the “how to teach” portion) appears in all five subjects and accounts for roughly 40% of the total paper in WB Primary TET 2026.
Day 36–38 — Math Pedagogy: Constructivist approach, teaching strategies for numeracy, common errors children make, activity-based learning.
Day 39–41 — Language Pedagogy: Language acquisition theories (Chomsky, Krashen), Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE).
Day 42–44 — EVS Pedagogy: Project method, observation and fieldwork, activity-based and experiential learning.
Day 45 — Mixed Pedagogy Revision: Take a 30-question mixed pedagogy test from all subjects. Analyse your score. By this point in your Primary TET preparation, you should be scoring above 70%.

This phase is the heart of your final Primary TET preparation sprint.
Day 46–53: Attempt full-length mock tests of 150 questions each under strict 90-minute exam conditions. After each mock test, spend equal time analysing your errors. Do not just check what was wrong — understand why it was wrong and revisit the concept the same evening.
Day 54–55 — Previous Year Papers: Solve WB Primary TET papers from 2022, 2023, and 2024. You will notice certain question patterns and topics repeating. Mark those topics and do a quick revision.
Target score by the end of this phase: 120+ out of 150.
The last five days of your Primary TET preparation are for consolidation only. No new topics.
Day 56–58: Prepare one-page cheat sheets for each subject — key theories, formulas, grammar rules, important EVS facts, and pedagogy points all on a single sheet per subject. These are for quick revision on the morning of the exam.
Day 59: Take your final full-length mock test under strict exam conditions. Note your score and confidence level.
Day 60: Light revision of cheat sheets only. Rest well. A rested mind performs far better in the WB Primary TET 2026 exam than an exhausted one.
