The wait is finally over for thousands of WBCS aspirants. The Public Service Commission, West Bengal (WBPSC) has declared the result of the West Bengal Civil Services (Exe.) etc. (Preliminary) Examination, 2024 (Advertisement No. 08/2024). The announcement, numbered 399-PSC/CON, is dated 5 November 2026.
According to the notice, the roll numbers of 3,842 candidates have been provisionally qualified for the final written examination. The result is a 10-page PDF listing the qualified roll numbers in ascending order.
The Commission has released the following cut-offs:
The UR category has the highest cut-off at 128, while ST candidates qualified with 95.25 marks.

Two points in the explanatory notes deserve attention.
OBC reservation: The result has been prepared in line with Backward Classes Welfare Department notifications no. 944-BCW/MR23/2026 and 945-BCW/MR-23/2026 (both dated 18 May 2026), read with notification no. 1060/Secy/BCW/7P-63/2024 dated 7 August 2026.
PwBD categories: As per Labour Department notification no. Labr/85-EmpIEC/1M-01/25 dated 25 May 2026, PwBD roster points are now generic and are not earmarked by disability category. The relevant categories are now only PwBD-UR and PwBD-SC.
Since the qualification is provisional, keep an eye on the official WBPSC website for the Mains notice, form-fill dates, exam schedule and document verification instructions. Keep your certificates ready, especially category-related documents, as the reservation rules have been applied according to the latest notifications.
If you have qualified, start your Mains preparation immediately. Divide your syllabus into weekly targets, practise answer writing every day, and revise your optional papers regularly. Mains rewards steady, disciplined preparation far more than last-minute cramming.
Missing the cut-off, sometimes by just a few marks, is painful, but it is not the end of the road. Review your performance, identify the sections that cost you marks, and plan a stronger attempt. Many successful officers cleared the exam only after more than one try.
Congratulations to all qualified candidates, and best wishes to everyone continuing the journey. Always rely on the official notice from the Public Service Commission, West Bengal for final and authoritative information.
