WBSSC Group C and D: Preliminary Interview Lists Are Out

WBSSC Group C and D: Preliminary Interview Lists Are Out
November 5, 2026

After a long wait, the West Bengal Central School Service Commission (WBSSC) has published the preliminary interview lists for Group C (Clerk) and Group D posts under the 1st SLST Non-Teaching Staff Recruitment, 2025. For lakhs of aspirants, this is the first concrete sign of progress.

What Has Been Released?

Two PDFs are out. The Clerk list runs to 465 pages and the Group D list to 1,014 pages. In total, 11,322 candidates appear in the Clerk list and 27,053 in the Group D list.

Each list is organised by region (Eastern, Western, Northern, Southern and South-Eastern), by medium (Bengali and Hindi), and then by vacancy category and gender. Adding up the vacancy figures in the headers gives roughly 2,980 Clerk posts and 5,480 Group D posts.

How are Candidates Ranked?

Ranking depends on the total mark, which is a combination of components:

  • Clerk: OMR marks + experience score + educational qualification score
  • Group D: OMR marks + experience score

Each candidate gets a rank code such as MF1-1, which shows their position within their specific list. Candidates should find their own region, medium, category and gender block carefully, because the same roll number is placed in a particular list only.

Cut-off Marks

Cut-offs vary by list, but a clear pattern emerges:

  • Clerk: most lists have an OMR cut-off between 64 and 68
  • Group D: most lists sit between 37 and 40

Reserved-category lists often have slightly lower cut-offs than General lists. A few small lists have much lower figures, so always check the header of your own list rather than relying on a general number.

Who Dominates the Lists?

By category, the Clerk list has the most entries from SC candidates (about 3,800), followed by General, OBC and EWS. The Group D list is similar, with SC candidates at around 11,700, followed by OBC and General. By gender, roughly 3,500 of the Clerk entries are female candidates.

Why does the List Contain More Names than Vacancies?

For each list, the Commission has called roughly twice the number of vacancies for the interview stage. Many lists contain more names than that, which suggests candidates tied at the cut-off were included as well. Being on the list is therefore a big step, but it is not a job offer.

What should Candidates Do Next?

  1. Find your name using your roll number in the correct region and category list.
  2. Keep your documents ready, including educational certificates, caste or EWS certificates, experience proof and ID.
  3. Watch the official WBSSC website for interview dates, venue and document verification notices.
  4. Prepare for the interview, since it is the stage that decides who moves forward.
  5. Beware of agents and fake promises. Only trust official notices.

Final word

This is a preliminary list, not the final merit list. Still, it brings clarity after a long period of uncertainty. If your name is there, congratulations on clearing this hurdle. If it isn’t, check for upcoming notices and stay prepared. Good luck to every candidate!
